Central Fire Station
Master thesis at AAAD
This project Is an answer to the real intent of the Prague Fire Brigade to build a Central Station. At the same spot, there is a station serving since 1943, consisting of a few temporary wooden huts. It is the busiest station in Prague in terms of interventions, hosting, besides the Fire brigade, also mechanics who take care of all firemen equipment for Prague, as well as a group of climbers and divers.
The Idea was to give these heroes and the city a decent building. It is supposed to be there an ambulance station as well,an administrative part, and I decided also to add a fire museum and a bistro. The fire brigade and ambulance have their building connected directly to the main road, so they can reach all the rayon fast. The building is a rhythm of solid service blocks and a light construction between. The first floor is taken by garages, on the upper floor there is an accommodation having a form of a monastery, running around calm courtyards and a sport hall, playground and a central fire brigade warehouse. To the street connecting metro and the nearby Holesovice district, there is a building partly open to public. This house is higher, on the first and second floor there is a museum, connected by a ramp. Behind the ramp there is a tower for communication devices and for drying pipes. On the upper floor, above the museum, there is an administrative building and archive. On the corner closer to the Holesovice district there is a small bistro. In parallel with the fire brigade house is a long and low building for mechanics. In between, there is a large yard needed for manipulation with vehicles. On the opposite side of the museum there is a gas station, a place for training of cutting cars, a training tower and a running track.
