In summer 2016 we finished the interior of Café Atrium placed close to the Old Town square in Prague. It is the first part of the reconstruction of a two storey baroque building with a 70sqm courtyard. In future, there should be also beer bar and bistro.
In the beginning, the space itself was filled with partitions and various interventions made within centuries. According to the old plans we set the atrium as the heart of the project. We removed all the extensions inside and leveled the floor. The atrium became a sort of square where people can pass and meet each other. In the front part of the building we placed the cafe itself instead of the original toilets. We replaced the shop windows with replicas of the original openable windows and add one new window to connect the courtyard with the café and the street visually .The floor surfaces, somewhere almost opulent, play an Important role in connecting the whole space. The furniture, on the contrary, is quite simple.
